We have been discussing the locality of architecture, or the theory of environment, which is also an important part of building urban culture. The most basic thing is that different regions have different architectural techniques, which is one of the ways of survival that has been passed down through hundreds or thousands of years of learning by local people in response to the local environment, climate, geology and so on, and it is right that we should pass it on.
This is a small community of 16 unused villas which, once purchased, will be transformed into a community-based villa resort hotel. After surveying the area, we chose one near the main road and the community wall as a model.
This is a place where the Tu people congregate and has a long history, forming its own set of cultural traditions in all aspects, including architecture. After analysing the current state of the building, we recorganised the form and layout of the building. Without changing the main structure, the size and position of the windows were repositioned according to the new layout, based on which part of the walls and roof were removed. To better integrate with the local environment, we used local materials and traditional building techniques to construct the new walls, rediscovering the architectural texture of the area.
Inside, we designed four bedrooms to accommodate at least four couples or a large family. At the same time, there are leisure areas such as a bar and a chess room to cater for the needs of holiday entertainment.
